We are in the stages of life where some of us are not ready to go back to the gym. The pandemic is still very much real. The cost of membership may not be affordable or maybe there just isn't enough time in the day. Well, I have a solution to this problem. Below is a quick read on how to start strength training at home. Before you go run out and get a bunch of expensive workout equipment. Hear me out on some alternatives. Taking a combination of movements like these and a certain amount of reps and/or time in 10 - 15 minutes your heart rate can be elevated. Some of you may want more than just bodyweight exercise to build muscle. I get it. That’s where the equipment will come in but at a reasonable price. Free weights such as barbells and dumbbells will work. Free weights allow for a full range of motion to develop overall functional strength. Fun fact if you can’t afford dumbbells household items work just as well (cans, jug of water, 5lb bag, or flour). Sometimes lifting weights may not be an option due to maybe an injury or medical condition. It’s ok. Resistance bands can be used to tone and build muscle. Similar to free weights but it is an elastic tubing to allow for a full range of motion. They can offer a variety of functional exercises, including pushing and pulling on all planes of motion.
